Severe Weather Policies
In
the event of inclement weather conditions, all on-campus
operations of UW-Marshfield/Wood County will be carried on to
the extent practical. Facilities may close to the public but,
unless power outages or
other critical circumstances
preclude the use of University buildings, the campus will remain
operational. Therefore, it should be assumed that scheduled
activities would continue unless instructions from the Dean’s
Office direct to the contrary. Individuals who must travel to or
from campus should use their judgment as to whether or not such
travel is wise. Should it be necessary to cancel a class due to
the absence of a faculty member, it is the responsibility of
that faculty member to notify Student Services to schedule an
appropriate make-up session.
The operation of off-campus classes in a weather emergency
will be governed by whether or not the campus is closed.
General Notification Procedures
When inclement weather conditions exist, the Dean’s Office
will initiate appropriate action and
will notify students and employees as follows:
- The Dean’s Office will determine the
nature and extent of action, if any, to be taken.
- The Dean’s Office will notify the
appropriate local news sources.
The applicable labor agreements or administrative rules and
policies will apply to CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES as
appropriate. The rules differ depending on whether an employee
is exempt or non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair
Labor Standards Act (FLSA). There are also several rules that
apply only to WSEU-represented employees. Refer to these
documents for clarification of specific application.
