"... Our kids are getting the attention and support
they need."
I'm
proud to say that my husband and I have two children here at
"The Wood." I'm Jean Rosandich. My son, Eric, is a
sophomore this year at UW-Marshfield/Wood County. When he
was in high school, his guidance counselors weren't sure college
was for him. My husband and I - and most importantly Eric
- knew they were wrong. Last May, at the end of his
freshmen year, Eric had the grades to prove it.
The faculty and staff at The Wood are very concerned about the
students - not just as students, but as people. Eric has
done really well - thanks to the attention and encouragement he
receives from his instructors. They make time for him and
all the other students. They make sure to send them to THE
LEARNING CENTER for extra help when necessary.
This fall, our daughter, Rebecca, is starting at The Wood as
well. She's 22 and a "non-traditional student." When
she graduated high school, she went off to UW-Oshkosh. But the
environment there wasn't for her. She needed more personal
attention than Oshkosh could provide.
That's why I like The Wood. I think it's good
for kids to have the opportunity to live at home. Not that I
would have held either of them back if they wanted to move out!
It's just that I think it's good for kids to have the support of
parents and faculty during those first two years of college -
when they're facing a new experience.
So it's not only just the money we're saving by having our kids
at The Wood. Rebecca and Eric are getting the attention
and support they need. They're not out getting lost at a big
college - and there are still plenty of "college experiences"
for them to take part in.
College isn't just a new experience for kids. It's an
experience for parents as well. Contact
Student Services. They'll answer all your questions. |
