Admission
Requirements
The process for admission to the University of
Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County is a simple one.
Upon receipt of all the necessary documents and
information to render a decision concerning your admission, we will notify you of our
decision within TWO WEEKS.
STEP 1. Contact Us
Contact the Student Services Office by calling (715)
389-6530 or e-mail us at msfadmit@uwc.edu. We will
send you a University of Wisconsin System Application for Undergraduate Admission and the
materials you will need to familiarize yourself with our campus.
We can also arrange day or evening appointments for you to
visit the campus, take a tour and meet with an admissions counselor who can answer any
questions you may have concerning your college plans. If you decide to visit the campus,
you are welcome to invite family or friends to accompany you.
If you are still in High School, you may first wish to
discuss your college interests with your high school counselor who will have UW
applications and information about our campus.
STEP 2. Complete an Application
(a) IF YOU ARE A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, submit
the UW application and the current application fee to your high school counselor who will
forward it to the Student Services Office with your official high school transcript and

application and the current application fee to the Student Services Office. Contact your
former high school and request that a copy of your official high school transcript be

(e) If you want to apply as a HIGH SCHOOL
SPECIAL STUDENT (a student taking courses while still in high school), return the

Provisional Student Admission Criteria
In some cases, high school students are capable of success on
our campus but do not meet our admission standards due to circumstances beyond their
control. For example, illness, family problems, a disability or just being a "late
bloomer" during high school may have kept students from reaching their full potential
and meeting minimum admission requirements. In these cases, students will be informed that
they do not meet standard admission requirements and will be considered for provisional
admission, if they:
- have their high school counselor contact the admissions office
by phone or letter to provide a recommendation supporting their admission and mentioning
any mitigating circumstances that affected their high school performance.
- take the University Placement Test prior to a provisional
admission decision being rendered.
They are also encouraged to provide an explanatory letter
detailing any special circumstances for our consideration or to arrange a visit with the
Director of Student Services to discuss any special circumstances bearing on their
provisional admission.
Once admitted as provisional students, any academic
deficiencies they have must be remedied by taking required developmental classes during
their first semester on campus. Provisional students may also be subject to reduced course
loads, special advising, required tutoring or other measures designed to help assure their
success.
Successful completion of all required developmental courses
within the student's first 30 credit hours allows the provisional student to proceed with
a regular program of study without further provisions. Failure to successfully complete
remedial courses within the first 30 credit hours of study may result in suspension.

International Students
The admission requirements outlined above and in the UW
Colleges catalog do not apply to students who are not residents of the United States.
International applicants are admitted on the basis of superior scholastic ability
demonstrated by school records and certificates, and on their ability to effectively use
and understand the English language. International students also must provide proof of
their ability to pay all expenses while they are students.
All enrolled international students may be required to
carry health insurance or show comparable coverage for medical expenses.
