The table below shows you how the library assesses fines. Be aware that there can be hidden costs. There is a $100 fine for all lost items but if the value of that item is more than $100, you will be charge the EXACT cost of replacing that item. You are also accountable for damages done to equipment or materials that may occur during the time it is checked out to you.

You cannot check out materials if you have unpaid fines on your library account. It is easy to avoid fines by keeping track of how many items you borrow, when they are due, caring for them respectfully, and returning them on time. Information on due dates and materials borrowed is available from your Search@UW account. Library staff will be happy to show you how to sign in and find your account page. Any items you check out from our library can be renewed one time from your account. Any subsequent renewals can be placed through a library staff person. Just ask us if you have any questions.
For your convenience, the library has a 24 hour drop box located outside the Laird Building by the theatre entrance. Items placed in the drop box will be processed the next business day. PLEASE do not return laptops or other equipment through this slot.
Once fines are assessed, a hold may be placed on your PRISM account. This hold may keep you from registering for classes, adding or withdrawing from classes or from obtaining your transcripts until the fine is paid. In addition, these fines can be added to your tuition bill or sent to collections if not taken care of in a timely manner.
All items are considered lost and billable after 60 days past due date. There will be a $100.00 + fine fee for each lost item. Arrangements can be made to replace lost item with an EXACT replacement purchased by the patron.
